The bed frame has large solid feet on each corner and a base made up of chunky solid slats which give ventilation and air circulation to the mattress. The clever part is the storage as you can change the base of the bed to the following:
1. Bed frame (as pictured)
2. Divan base with 2 drawers (foot-end left and right)
3. Divan Base with Ottoman gas lift base
